The Slaughters Cemetery Board is asking for help in the cost of maintaining the Cemetery.

In 1999, the cemetery was incorporated and filed with the State Attorney General. The Cemetery is now a nonprofit organization, and all donations are tax deductible. We will be glad to send you a receipt for your donation. In 2017 a Cemetery Board was formed and now manages the Cemetery.

The good news is that we have protected the Perpetual Fund and as of May 30, 2021, it has a balance of $121,684.22. We are not allowed to spend any of the Perpetual Fund, as it is meant to be a means to supply dividends for the upkeep of the cemetery. The problem is that the dividends alone are not enough to maintain the Cemetery.

The cemetery generally needs mowing 20-22 times per year, we also pay a bookkeeper to oversee the accounts and a grounds keeper to dispose of dead flowers, fill in holes, any other maintenance that is needed. There are also annual filing fees that must be paid to the State Attorney General’s Office. The total annual expenses are approximately $12,800.00.

We are asking families and friends to send donations to The Slaughters City Clerk at P.O. Box 23, Slaughters, KY 42456.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Jeff Coomes, Chairman of the Board

Board Members: Eric Blandford, Penny Utley, Debbie Winstead, Darona Higdon, Michelle Petitt, Chip Tomblinson and Janet Shoulders
